How do I record video directly into My Media?

You can record video from your computer screen and webcam directly into My Media inside Canvas.  

Once recorded the video will be part of your My Media video collection inside Canvas.

NOTE: videos in your My Media collection will not be viewable by students in any of your Canvas courses, unless you post them in the Media Gallery for a particular course.

Here's how to record video into My Media in Canvas --

Log into Canvas

Go into one of your courses (it doesn't matter which one)

Click "My Media" in the left-side menu

On the My Media page, click "Add New"

Choose "Kaltura Capture" from the "Add New" menu

Kaltura Capture is a video recording tool that works with My Media in Canvas

If you have not yet installed Kaltura Capture

Click "Download for Windows" or "Download for Mac", and follow these instructions on installing Kaltura Capture on your machine [LINK]

If you have previously installed Kaltura Capture

Follow these instructions on using Kaltura Capture to record video [LINK]

When you're done recording video . . .

When you have finished recording and uploaded the video, it will appear in your My Media collection of video inside Canvas.

NOTE: in order for a video to be viewable by your students, you must first post it from your My Media video collection to the Media Gallery for a specific course.
