How do I live proctor a Canvas exam with Verity?
On the day/time your Verity live proctored exam session is set, you can open a "dashboard" to proctor your students online with the Verity tool. It's important that you open the dashboard several minutes before the exam actually begins so you have time to step through the process.
Instructions are below —
Ten minutes before the exam begins go to the course in Canvas and click "YuJa Verity" in the left-hand menu
Be sure to use Chrome as your browser when using Canvas and Verity.
In the "Active Sessions" list find the session for the current exam and click "Start"
A new tab will open in Chrome showing the YuJa Verity Live Proctoring dashboard
At first the dashboard will be empty since no students have joined yet.
When students join the live proctoring session, you will see their images and other information in the dashboard
Be sure to monitor the "Users" tab in the right side panel throughout the exam. If a number appears next to a student's name, the student has sent you a chat message. Click the number to access the "Chat" button.
Click the "Chat" button to open the chat window and see the student's message
NOTE: in order to see the "Chat" button you must first click on the number next to the student's name in the "Users" list.
Type your response in the chat window and click the "send" button (looks like an arrow)
Use the "Audio Bridge" to talk with the student by voice. Click the "Audio Bridge" button to start the call. Click the "Leave" button to end the call.
To see other features of the students view in the dashboard click the "Switch videos" button which looks like a small gridded screen.
Use the "Screen", "Webcam", and "Fullscreen" buttons to change the view
Use the "Notes" tool to take notes about a specific student in the current live proctoring session. These notes are not visible to the student. You can review them later when you are reviewing the student's test session.
Important: Be sure not to confuse the "Chat" tool with the "Notes" tool. Chat messages will be visible to the student but Notes will not.
