How do I authenticate Verity in my Canvas course as an instructor?
Once you have added Verity to your Canvas course in the course Settings you need to "authenticate" it. The steps below show you how.
NOTE: Verity works with Canvas classic quizzes in the Chrome browser, so be sure that's how you will use it.
In the Canvas course click "YuJa Verity" in the white menu on the left side
You will see the YuJa Verity page in the Canvas course. Click the "First-Time Verity Authentication for Canvas" video to view it.
Follow these steps to authenticate Verity in Canvas
Step 1: Use Chrome as your browser
You must use Chrome as your browser when using Verity. If you're not in Chrome, you'll be prompted to launch Chrome and re-log into Canvas from inside Chrome.
Once you have done that you can return to the Verity page in the Canvas course and you'll see the message "You are on a supported browser".
Step 2: Install the Verity extension in Chrome
In the Verity page in the Canvas course click "Install Extension"
The Chrome web store will open in a separate tab in the browser. It will show details about the Verity extension
When prompted click "Add extension"
Close the Chrome web store tab in the browser and return to Canvas
Step 3: Enable Incognito Mode in the YuJa Verity extension
Click the "Extensions" icon, shaped like a puzzle-piece, in the top right corner of Chrome
You will see a list of installed extensions. Locate YuJa Verity and click the "three dots" to the right of it
In the dropdown menu click "Manage Extension"
Scroll down on the Extension page to the "Allow in Incognito" item. Toggle the button at the right to turn this feature on. When the item is turned on, the toggle button will be blue.
Close the "Extensions" tab in the browser and return to Canvas
When you've completed these steps, authentication is done. You will see this indication on the Verity page in the Canvas course
