What content is available in iSEEK and Canvas?

As part of Tufts' One Health initiative, the iSEEK search tool enables Canvas users, including faculty and students, to access course content across health sciences programs at Tufts.  

iSEEK users have access to content in two ways:

  1. Search Results: iSEEK enables you to search for, preview, and download content from Canvas. To learn more visit: How do I use iSEEK for a basic search? 
  2. Canvas Course: iSEEK enables you to search for a specific Canvas course and access some of its content, even if you are not enrolled in the course. To learn more visit: How do I access a course from iSEEK?

Unavailable Content

The following content and tools are not included in iSEEK search results and are unavailable to users accessing a course via iSEEK. This content is only available via Canvas to users enrolled in the course:  

  • Grades
  • Discussions
  • Announcements
  • People
  • Communication tools, Such as Email, Chat, Conferences
  • Settings
  • Assignments, Quizzes, and Surveys (however description is available to all iSEEK users)
  • ExamSoft

Content that is Only Available to Other Instructors

The following Canvas content can be accessed by all instructors in iSEEK. The following content can be accessed in Canvas by users with a Teacher, Guest Lecturer, or TA role. 

The following content can not be accessed by enrolled students or any other non-enrolled users:

  • Unpublished content
  • Content that is date restricted
  • Content that has Prerequisites or Requirements assigned
