How do I embed video from My Media in a Canvas text-editing window? (New)

All Tufts University account holders (instructors / staff / students) can embed a My Media video in any Canvas text box, including in Announcements, Pages, Syllabus, Assignments, Quizzes and Discussions.

Log into Canvas and navigate to your course site

Choose the tool you want to embed the My Media video in the Canvas Text Editor

Note: This example describes embedding a My Media video in a Canvas Discussion text box. However, you can embed a My Media video in any type of Canvas text box (Example: Announcements, Pages, Syllabus, Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions)

Click on the item which you want to embed the video

Note: In Discussions, you may also have to click on "Reply" to see the Canvas Text box.

Click inside the text box to position your cursor where you want to embed the video.

Click the "Kaltura" icon (looks like a firework).

Choose video from My Media

Edit Discussion Topic

Choose whether you would like to pull the video from My Media or Media Gallery. The blue line under "My Media" indicates that is the library you are in.

Click on the "Select" button to the right of the video you want to embed in the text box.

This embeds the selected video in the Canvas text box.

Add any additional text you want then click "Save" or "Save and Publish" or "Post"
