How do I embed a Media Gallery Playlist in a Canvas Text box?
Instructors, TAs and Course Designers that have access to a Canvas Couse site can embed a Media Gallery Playlist in any Canvas text box (Announcements / Pages / Syllabus / Assignments / Discussions)
To create a Media Gallery Playlist see: How do I create a Playlist of videos in the Media Gallery tool?
Note: Students cannot embed a Media Gallery Playlist in a Canvas text box as they do not have permission to create a Media Gallery Playlist. Students can, however, embed any of the videos they upload to their My Media in a Canvas text box.
See: How do I embed a video from My Media space in a Canvas Text box?
First, Create a Media Galley Playlist
Go to the course site Media Gallery tool. Click on the Menu icon and select Edit
This displays the Edit Media Gallery page. Click on the Playlist tab
This displays the Playlists created in this course site's Media Gallery.
For the Playlist you want to embed in a text box, click Embed
This displays the embed code for this Playlist.
Select a layout, copy the embed code to your computer's clipboard (Command-C MAC or CTRL-C Windows), then click Cancel
Go to the Canvas text box, enter a title, and click "HTML Editor"
This displays the content area of the Canvas text box into HTML editing mode.
Paste the Playlist embed code in the text box content area (Command-C MAC or CTRL-C Windows), then click Rich Content Editor
This embeds the Playlist code and returns the display of the text box to normal rich text editing mode.
Click Save/Publish or Post
Note: The example text box used here is from the Canvas Pages tool. You can also embed a Media Gallery Playlist in any tool that uses a Canvas text box (Announcements / Syllabus / Assignments / Discussions / Pages / Quizzes)
