How do I embed a Media Gallery Playlist in a Canvas text-editing window?
Instructors and TAs can embed a Media Gallery Playlist in any Canvas text box, including in Announcements, Pages, Syllabus, Assignments, and Discussions.
Note: Students cannot embed a Media Gallery Playlist in a Canvas text box as they do not have permission to create a Media Gallery Playlist. Students can, however, embed any of the videos they upload to their My Media in a Canvas text-editing window.
First, Create a Media Gallery Playlist
In Canvas, go to the course site and select "Media Gallery" from the left-side menu
Click on the Menu icon and select "Edit"
You will see the Edit Media Gallery Page. Click "Playlists"
You will see the playlists that have been created in the Media Gallery for the course
Scroll to the playlist you want and click "Embed"
You will see the embed code for the playlist
Choose a layout
Select the entire embed code, and copy it to your computer's clipboard (Command-C on a Mac, or CTRL-C on a Windows PC)
, then click Cancel
In Canvas, navigate to the item (Discussion, Assignment, etc.) where you wish to embed the playlist. Add a title
Click "HTML Editor"
You will see an HTML editing window
Into this window paste the playlist embed code (Command-C on a Mac or CTRL-C on a Windows PC)
Click "Rich Content Editor" to return to the regular text-editing window. You will see the playlist embedded
Be sure to scroll down and click "Save & Publish" or "Save"
Note: The example used above is a Page created with the Canvas Pages tool. You can embed a Media Gallery Playlist in any tool that uses the Canvas rich-text editing window, including: Announcements, Syllabus, Assignments, Discussions, Pages, and Quizzes.
