How do I create an interactive video assignment in Bongo?
In an Interactive Video assignment students watch an instructor-provided video and can respond to a maximum of 20 question prompts.
The assignment is accessed by students in Canvas, in an Assignment or Module.
Create the Bongo Assignment in Canvas

1. Enter a title for the Assignment
NOTE: The title of the assignment must be unique to all your other course assignment titles, and cannot be changed once the assignment has been saved.
2. Add a point value for the assignment
In the "Submission Type" menu choose External Tool

- Choose External Tool
- Click Find and choose Bongo Learn from the external tool list
- Check Load This Tool in a New Tab
Be sure to check the "Load This Tool in a New Tab" checkbox so that the Bongo tool will load properly.
Complete and Save the Assignment Information

- Select Limited or Unlimited from the Allowed Attempts dropdown menu. Although Canvas lets you set the number of allowed attempts, you will also need to set this in Bongo.
- Enter Due, Available from, and Until dates.
- Click Save. Remember to click Save & Publish once you have fully completed creating the Bongo assignment.
NOTE: To avoid confusion, you can opt to only set the assignment dates within Canvas (and enter no dates in Bongo).
Load the Bongo Assignment in a New Tab
Click the "Load..." button to load the assignment in a new tab in the browser.

Once in the Bongo site, set up the interactive video assignment as follows —
If accessing Bongo for the first time in this course, choose "Create a Blank Course"

NOTE: If this is the first time you are creating a Bongo assignment in this particular course you will be prompted with the "CREATE A BLANK COURSE" option.
If you have already created a Bongo assignment in this course you will not see this option.
In the "Add Course Content" window choose "Assignment"

In the "Add an Assignment" window choose "Interactive Video"

Complete the Assignment Settings and Instructions
Click "General" in the left-hand panel

Add assignment instructions and details

- Assignment Name. Enter the assignment name (required)
- Due date and time is is set independently from the Canvas due date. (And students can submit even after the Bongo due date.) To avoid confusion use only the Canvas due date and leave the Bongo due date blank.
- Video Instructions. In the Instructions section, click on the camera icon (optional) to add an instructional video for the assignment. NOTE: If the assignment has Peer Review, then the Interactive Video must be uploaded as the Instructional video, too.
- Text Instructions. Enter text instructions for the assignment (required). NOTE: Character limit is 1,024 characters, including spaces.
- Interactive Video. In the Interactive Video section, click on the camera icon to add the video that students will be interacting with.
- Peer Review. After you have uploaded the interactive video and configured at least one question, you have the option to set up peer review for the assignment. See: How do I customize Peer Review in Bongo?
- Save. Be sure to save the settings.
Select the Video Type and upload or record the video
In the "Add Video" pop-up box choose Record Video, Upload Video, or Select From Resources.
If have chosen a video to upload, click "BEGIN UPLOAD" (you may have to scroll inside the pop-up box to see the button). NOTE: The video may take several minutes to upload depending on its size.

Add questions to the video
You may add multiple choice questions, video response questions, or a combination of these.

Once the video has completely uploaded click "CREATE QUESTION".
To create a multiple choice question

- Question Type. Select Multiple Choice
- Prompt At. Click on the time to reveal Set Custom Time, and enter a specific time for questions to appear during the video. Choose Set at End to have the question appear at the end of video.
- Question. Enter the question.
- Multiple Choice Options. Enter your preferred options. Enter the CORRECT option on the first line with the green checkmark.
- Click OK.
Weight the First Question

- Check Force Retake Multiple Choice Questions (optional)
- You must enter 100% for the weight of the FIRST question or you won't be able to save the question. As you add more questions, you may adjust the percentage as desired.
- Click the three dots icon to edit the question, if necessary.
- Click Save.
Create Video Response Questions
- Question Type. Select Video Response Question.
- Prompt At. Click on the time to reveal Set Custom Time, and enter a specific time for questions to appear during the video. Choose Set at End to have the question appear at the end of video.
- Question. Enter the question.
- Click OK

Adjust Question Weights

- Adjust the weight of each multiple choice question as needed.
NOTE: If you are using a combination of multiple choice questions and video responses the grade weight of multiple choice questions cannot exceed 99% . The weight of the video responses will automatically be calculated based on the weight of the multiple choice questions.
Add Post-Submission Instructions (optional)

Post-Submission Instructions can be in the form of text or video with additional information, or the assignment video can be uploaded again for students to review.
- Click SHOW ADVANCED in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Scroll up to the Post-Submission Instructions section to enter text or upload a video.
