Default Question Settings
These are the system defaults we have configured for the Tufts University Poll Everywhere instance. We do not recommend changing these, except in special circumstances. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
Disable "Text Messages"
We have disabled the text messaging option because hasn't been used on campus, gives students fewer options to participate, and takes up valuable screen real estate.
Restrict responses to "Registered participants only"
If you want to see which students participated for grading purposes you need to require students to register and log in first. If you want to ask questions anonymously you can enable anonymous responses for questions even though students have logged in. For these questions, student responses will not be associated with their names.
See more about Anonymous Responses here.
Asking questions from Poll Everywhere slides integrated into PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.
You can display an activity directly from PowerPoint by embedding your activity as a slide, to seamlessly present with your other PowerPoint slides.
To embed your activities in PowerPoint you must install the Poll Everywhere Presenter application on the computer you are using to present. In addition, the computer displaying the presentation must have a strong connection to the internet in order for the polls to be displayed.
All classroom computers at Tufts have the Poll Everywhere Presenter app installed.
Follow the link below for instructions specific to your operating system and presentation software: https://www.polleverywhere.com/app
Asking questions from the Poll Everywhere website
Click the "Presenting from the web" link below to see step by step instructions for asking questions from the Poll Everywhere website or watch the video below.
Poll Everywhere has several styles of reports that can analyze responses to your questions. The "Gradebook" report is the quickest way to see how your students responded to the questions asked during a lecture.
Select which activities you want to run a report on by checking the box next to that activity, then click Create Report
A report will generate which you can export out
1. You can use the "rename" button to update the title of your report. This can be helpful for the future if you want to reference or later download this report.
2. You can reuse activities in different classes. Select which run you would like to pull data on to ensure you are collecting info for the correct class.
3. If you are working in a team, you can select which presenter you would like to pull the data from. This is helpful when TA's are pulling reports for faculty who ran the activities in class.
4. This is a breakdown of each question and the participation and correctness of each activity for each student.
5. You can download this report as an .csv file for further manipulation. This can be useful if you want to see typed responses from your students.
NOTE: Export is the outdated way to export grades to canvas. See below on the best way to send grades to Canvas.
See How to Synchronize Grades or Participation with Canvas (New Jan 25) to learn how to connect to canvas and send grades from Poll Everywhere.
NOTE: Students must be registered and logged in with their Tufts account to be properly seen by your canvas course. Please ensure your activity settings are set to "Restrict to registered participants only". This is set to each activity by default.
