How do I access my own course evaluation reports for this term in Blue?
Instructors can view their course evaluation reports shortly after final grades are due for the semester (usually a few weeks after final exams).
You will receive an email at your school email address from Tufts Course Evaluations ([email protected]) inviting you to view the evaluation report. You can click the link in the email to access your reports. If you do not receive the email, please check your spam folder.
You can also access Blue via the 'Course Evaluations' link in the left side navigation of any Canvas course. Alternatively, you can access your reports via your Blue home page at https://tufts.bluera.com/tufts. For AS&E, there will also be a Canvas announcement with a link to Blue.
In order to access a course evaluation report:
- The course must be designated by the Department as an evaluated course. Courses not designated for evaluation may include: labs, recitations, low enrollment, independent study, thesis, or others.
- You must be listed as an official "Instructor of Record" for the course, or you must be a staff member who has been granted access. Guest Instructors and TAs are not evaluated and do not have access to the course evaluation.
- If there are multiple designated "Instructors of Record" for a course, each instructor can only see their own evaluation and the general course evaluation. Instructors cannot see other instructor's evaluations.
Some schools require a response threshold (not enrollment threshold) to be met in order for reports to be published. If fewer than 3 students respond to a course evaluation in the BioMedical Sciences school, or fewer than 4 students in AS&E, the report will not be generated for that course. This will be indicated by a 'Respondent Threshold not met' status. Instructors are invited and encouraged to monitor their response rates during the course evaluation period.
Some schools also allow their students to view the course evaluation reports. For those schools, the links to the reports are posted in a secure location.
You will receive an email inviting you to view the reports
You will receive an email inviting you to view the reports. You can also access Blue via links provided in Canvas for the course. Note that the link in the email will bring you to the reports for that term only.
If you cannot find the email, or if you wish to search reports across various terms, you can access the Blue dashboard at https://tufts.bluera.com/tufts, or through the 'Course Evaluations' link on the left side navigation of your Canvas course.
Click the link to log in. Log into Blue with your Tufts University username and password. If you encounter an access error, please note that during login, users at health sciences schools may be required to select a data source. Be sure to select the correct one (referenced in your email invitation - if no data source is specified in the invite, choose All Users). View the report list and click on a report title to view the PDF.
Some reports may be in a 'respondent threshold not met' status. What does 'Respondent Threshold not met' mean?
View the report. Click "Download PDF" or "Download CSV" in the lower right corner of the report header to download the PDF or CSV reports.
Summary Data
In the "Summary of Results" section of the Blue course evaluation report, mean and standard deviation data is provided for key questions for that particular course and instructor.
For comparison, the mean and standard deviation data is also provided for courses within a certain subject, in a single term, session, or mode (such as online vs on-campus). For other schools, the comparison is provided across all subjects in the entire school for that term.
Detail Data
In the "Detailed Results of Course Evaluation", you will only see your own results, complete with graphs and statistics.
