How do I reclaim the Host role in my Zoom class meeting?

If you have accidentally joined your own Zoom class meeting as a participant, rather than as Host, you can "reclaim" the Host role.  It's important to do this, because the Host of a Zoom meeting has access to key security tools.

Before you can claim host, you must sign in via SSO.

If you have joined as a participant, you can sign into your Tufts Zoom account from the meeting. Click 'Zoom Workplace' in the top right corner of your screen

Menubar

Select Sign in

Select SSO and Login with your tufts Username and Password on the new window that opens

Once signed in, you will automatically be assigned host; To confirm that you've reclaimed the Host role, look for "(Host, me)" next to your name in the Participants window

Zoom Meeting

If an assigned co-host is already in the meeting when you join, you will be prompted to 'Reclaim host' or 'Stay co-host'

If you reclaim host, your co-host will be demoted to a regular participant. You will need to remake them a cohost from the participants panel. SEE BELOW
