How do I move in and out of Breakout Rooms when hosting in Zoom?

Zoom allows the host and co-host to move in and out of breakout rooms. The host can join and leave any breakout room from the main meeting room. The co-host can join and leave any breakout room beginning with the breakout room to which they are assigned.

The host will create and open the breakout rooms.

The host will always see the Breakout Rooms option on their Zoom toolbar (as long as it is enabled in their meeting settings). Once the host creates and opens the rooms, the participants will be presented with a pop-up inviting them to join their assigned breakout room. If the co-host has been assigned to a breakout room, they will join that room just like any other participant.

The host can join and leave any breakout room from the main meeting room.

While in the main meeting room, once the breakout rooms are open, the host will see a "Join" link beside each breakout room name. The host may use this link to join whichever room they like, and when they leave that room and return to the main meeting room, they may select another room to join. The host is free to roam between any room and the main meeting.

The co-host can join and leave any breakout room - beginning with the breakout room to which they are assigned.

Once in their assigned breakout room, the co-host will see the Breakout Rooms option appear on their Zoom toolbar. They will also have access to a "Join" link beside each breakout room name (other than the room that they are presently in). The co-host may use this link to reassign themselves and join whichever room they like. The room that they are presently in will have a "Leave" link that they can use to return to the main meeting. As long as the breakout rooms are open, they can return to whichever room that they are currently assigned to, and move about through the different rooms using their join links. A co-host cannot choose to join any room they like directly from the main meeting - they can only join the room that they are currently assigned to.

As the co-host moves through the rooms, re-assigning themselves as they go, the host will be able see what room they are currently in via the Breakout Room panel in the main meeting.

The host will close the breakout rooms.

The host will still see the Breakout Rooms option on their Zoom toolbar whether the rooms are open or closed, but the co-host will not see the Breakout Rooms option on their toolbar once the rooms are closed.
