What should I be aware of when recording a class with Zoom?
If you plan to record your class with Zoom, inform any participants that recording is taking place.
This video shows you how to make the recording: Recording a Zoom Meeting
As with face-to-face classes, your students may stick around after your Zoom class meetings end to ask you questions. Stop the recording before you take any questions. Also, if there are a lot of students hanging out after class and one of the students needs to talk to you about something private, offer to connect over the phone or via email. You can also create a breakout room for a private discussion.
Note that if you set your recording settings to save chat messages from the meeting, your private messages will be included.
NOTE: Video recordings of class sessions in which students, guest lecturers, or others appear should not be shared without their express permission outside of the class/class canvas instance.
You can also download your recording to your computer and upload it to Canvas My Media / Media Gallery to share with students.
NOTE: we recommend this option, as you have unlimited storage for video in Canvas My Media and Media Gallery
