How do I add pronouns to my Canvas profile?
All users can indicate their pronouns in their Canvas user account settings. Pronouns display after your name in several areas in Canvas, including:
- Comment Fields
- Discussions
- Inbox
- People Page (Course and Groups)
- User Navigation Menu
- User Profile Page
- User Settings Page
If you already indicated your pronouns in SIS, this information does not currently sync with Canvas. You can choose to indicate your pronouns in one system, both, or neither, but selecting pronouns in one system will have no effect on the other.
Click on the Account icon in the Global Navigation bar and choose "Settings."
Click the "Edit Settings" button.
In the Pronouns drop-down menu, select your pronouns.
Click the "Update Settings" button.
Pronouns will appear after your name across Canvas.
To remove your pronouns, repeat the steps and select "None" from the Pronouns drop-down menu.
