Students - How do I search for course syllabi?

The Syllabus Search in Canvas is an opt-in, searchable directory of course syllabi. You can use the Syllabus Search to review syllabi of previous and current courses.

Not all current and previous syllabi are available in the Syllabus Search. If you cannot find a course in the Syllabus Search, the instructor may not have added it. If you find a course but there is no content visible in the Syllabus tool, the instructor has not uploaded their syllabus yet or made it available.

Syllabi are made available for reference only. Professors might make significant changes to their courses over time. A course syllabus for a current or future semester may differ from the syllabi used in previous semesters.

Tips for searching

  • Course names in Canvas include the term and year, the subject code, the course number, and the course's title as shown in SIS. (For example: "Sp19-BIO-0014-01-Organisms&populat W/lab").
  • You can search for a full or partial course name.
  • To find courses in a given subject, search for the subject code ("BIO"), not the full subject name ("Biology"). You can find a list of subject codes by going to the SIS home page (go.tufts.edu/sis) and clicking "Browse Course Catalog."
  • To find courses in a given term, search for the term abbreviation. (For example: Fa19, Sp19, or Su19).
  • To find courses in a given term and subject, use a hyphen between the term abbreviation and the subject code. ("Sp19-BIO" will return any available Biology courses from the Spring 2019 term.)
