Updated Kaltura My Media and Media Gallery Player
The Kaltura video player for My Media and Media Gallery in Canvas has been updated. The new player has an improved interface and new features.
Changes with the new player
The old player is on the left and the new player is on the right.
Transparent video player controls
The video controls appear in a transparent layer over the video that disappears after three seconds and re-appears when the mouse is moved over the video. This allows the video to take up more space within the window.
Searchable Transcript
Clicking the "Show Transcript" button will reveal a searchable, timestamped transcript.
- Enter terms into the search field to find them in the transcript.
- Click on any part of the transcript to jump to that time in the video.
- Clicking the "..." menu in the upper right-hand corner gives you the option to download the transcript.
- The search tool will search for terms across all video features (captions, transcript, chapters, etc.) and not just the transcript.
Video settings
Click the gear icon in the video controls to access settings like caption language, video quality, and speed. The captions menu also allows changing the look and feel of the captions.
