Students: How do I submit a video to an Assignment or a Discussion? (New)

By using the "Embed Kaltura Media" tool, students can upload and share video in a response to an assignment or discussion prompt.

In Canvas you will see the assignment prompt from the instructor. Click "Submit Assignment" to see the "Text Entry" window containing the Rich Text Editor tool panel

Click on the Properties Icon (3 vertical dots) and click on the Kaltura icon (rainbow circle)

NOTE: for a discussion post, you will not need to click the "Properties" icon to reveal the Kaltura icon.

This will display a list of media that you have already uploaded

If you have already uploaded your video submission to My Media, follow these instructions: Selecting a video from your My Media

Uploading a new video
Click "+ Add New" and select "Media Upload"

This displays the Upload Media page.

Click "Choose a file to upload"

Select the video file and click Open (or Select)

This uploads the video and displays the video detail form.

Edit the name field (if needed) and click "</> Save and Embed"

This will embed the video in the text box. Now you can proceed to: Add any additional text  or Comments you want then click "Submit Assignment"

Click on the "Select" button to the right of the video you want to embed in the text box.

This embeds the selected video in the Canvas text box.

Confirm that the correct video is embedded in the text box

Sometimes videos may require processing time before they are visible.

Add any additional text  or Comments you want then click "Submit Assignment"
