How do I add my advisees to a Canvas course site?

If you would like a Canvas course site for use with your advisees, use the Course Site Request Form or email [email protected]. After the site has been created, you can add your advisees to the Canvas site by retrieving their email addresses from SIS.

Log in to SIS

Log in at https://go.tufts.edu/sis. The My Advisees list displays on your Faculty/Advisor home page.

Click the empty checkbox in the upper right to select all students

Click the envelope to email all students

A draft message will open in your default email program. Email addresses for all your advisees will appear in the BCC field.

In your Canvas course site, open the People tool

Click the + People button

Copy the student email addresses from the email and paste them into the text field

You can discard the email draft after you've copied and pasted the email addresses.

Select "Student" from the role dropdown and click "Next"

Click "Add users"
